Holly and Christel – Surrogacy Birth Session

This is so so super close to my heart – I love Holly!

My first experience with Holly was about birth! I first met her when I was pregnant with my third daughter, Elizabeth. Holly is a fantastic doula here in Red Deer, and her and I got to know each other while I pregnant with Lizzie. She stayed with me through 18 1/2 hours of -failed- induction, and was there to support me through it all. Then, when they decided to continue with the induction, and little Miss Lizzie decided to arrive in just over 4 hours the next afternoon after I went from 4cm to 9cm dilated in about 30 minutes, my husband watched Holly fly into the parking lot, and literally RUN into the building. She made it into the room just as we welcomed our new baby girl into the world, and I’m so thankful for her presence and support during my experience.

She went on to give again to a couple who needed her. She carried twin boys for them until they decided to make their early arrival into the world at 34 weeks on December 16th. The morning of the 15th, Holly called our house to say that her water had broken, so off I went up the highway at 6am in the morning to Edmonton – I was so worried I was going to miss it – her babies usually come fast. These sweet tiny guys had other plans, though. She wandered hallways all day, with nothing much happening, and then her doctor decided that he was just going to induce her the next morning anyways. So her doula, Jasmine, the intended mother, Christel, and I all left the hospital for Holly and Morgan to get some rest. We all obviously should have just slept at the hospital though, because we were called back just before 4am with the news that she was dilating quickly from her husband.

The delivery room was slightly chaotic – there were a TON of medical staff in there, plus Morgan and I, then after the first babe was born, Christel joined us to meet her new baby boys. It was so emotional and amazing to be apart of – I still can’t really believe it happened.

Thank you SO much for choosing me to capture the ending of your first surrogacy journey, Holly. I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to share in this experience. And to the new family that was created because of you, congratulations on your new baby boys!

  1. Amber, the words you have written about our daughter brings tears to our eyes. To read how another feels about her and the person that she is brings such pride to us. We have always known how special she is!
Your photography skills, how you have captured not just the event, but also the emotion is breathtaking.
These are pictures and memories that we will now have for eternity.
With many thanks and much love, Cathy and Art Stotts
